The cover is absolutely stunning and what convinced me to pick this book up. The idea of a woman falling in love with her mother’s killer wasn’t one I thought I’d enjoy but I decided to give it a try.
Overall the story was just okay. Katarina was fiercely independent almost to a fault since she refused to rely on anyone. Jack on the other hand was the highlight. He was sweet, resourceful and genuinely grateful to be free again. I loved how he always looked out for others and wanted to help wherever he could.
Unfortunately Katarina really did him wrong. In the beginning I could understand her guilt about letting him live on the property per her father’s wishes and getting to know him. But as the story went on it was clear she had feelings for him yet she continued to insist it was only physical. Knowing Jack’s past and how little love he’d experienced it made sense he grew attached. Instead of giving back Katarina used him as a kind of emotional punching bag and her sister Maddy wasn’t much better.
The ending fell flat and wasn’t really memorable. Overall it was a simple easy read but I’m more interested in picking up the other sisters’ books since they felt like they had more personality than Katarina.

Before I launch into my review, I have to shout out The Whiskey Ginger for the most beautiful cover. Loni always does incredible work but this really takes the cake.
I really enjoyed Redemption. It’s a tough read in places, and truly teaches its readers lessons in redemption as we progress through the story. Seeing Jack make the huge mistake he does and the thought process behind it is gutting and frustrating, but he did his time without a fight and his remorse is evident and abundant. I’d love to know what happened with Scotty.
I loved exploring the relationships between the different Cartwright sisters, and I can’t wait for each of their books (though the thought of that potential age gap romance down the road is a bit unnerving!). I’d have loved to have spent more time with the sisters, but think that there were just too many of them to easily do it! We were definitely having their stories set up for later books, so I’m looking forward to getting to know them more later. I just have a lot of questions now!
Kat takes on huge burdens and everyone else’s pain and I loved to see her start to share more as the book went on. She deserves a team behind her, but she’s always had it. She just had to let them in.
I’m really looking forward to the next books in this series, and can’t wait to see how much good is coming to Redemption Ranch.

3/5!
Enemies to lovers AND found family, SIGN ME UP. The tension between the characters was great especially from Jack’s side, that man would do anything for her.
Would have liked the enemies part of the book to be drawn out a little more as it felt like everything happened too quickly for the issues raised.
