No tengo nada que decir, literalmente. Es el libro más intermedio que he leído en lo que va del año, no me ha encantado ni me ha disgustado.

Cette lecture me laisse un goût d'inachevé et de platitude. Le personnage ressent aucunes émotions, ce qui forcément joue sur le récit et la plume. Je comprends les intentions de l'autrice mais cela ne m'a pas suffit apprécier cette lecture, je l'ai trouvé quand même relativement fade. Je me suis finalement attachée à aucun personnage. Alors j'avoue que je ne comprends pas tout le tapage qui a été fait autour même si je trouve l'idée de base très pertinente.

I really loved this. A tiny nugget of a book about empathy and why we choose to hurt other people. Strong “curious incident” vibes but I wouldn’t recommend this as a good disability visibility read — the narrator is a little too odd/unlikable even though it comes around by the end.

This was really good. Interesting concept, though provoking, fun, and the ending was amazing.
The first half of the book was perfect. A captivating story with a fascinating main character whose story unfolds bit by bit. Emotions are strange to him and the writing reflects that.
Our main character doesn’t feel emotions like happiness or fear but you as the reader feel them even more. Great writing and translation of the Korean original. I would recommend the book if you’re looking for a quick literary read.
But the story loses its strength in the second half. The plot feels too convenient and no longer captivated me. The setting and background story of the first part were so well written that the second part felt like the writer herself didn’t know how to proceed. It felt a bit rushed and unconvincing. 3 stars.
