A unique concept and an interesting cultural exploration of alexithymia, but the inconsistent pacing didn’t really lend itself to a convincing narrative IMO.

This book gradually slips into the familiar “troubled boy befriends socially awkward outcast” trope. Which isn’t a bad thing, but the story just sort of lost its allure of novelty after that. Had the payoff been greater, I don’t think this would have been an issue for me, but I was honestly unimpressed by the rest.

This was so different than I thought but I think I liked it. I don't know, it was kinda weird at times but it was really easy to read due to the chapters being quite short. I have never heard about the condition of the protagonist and I found it very interesting reading about it from his perspective. This book is not going to become a favourite but I enjoyed enough to give it 4 stars.

I don’t know how to feel. Reading the author’s and translator’s notes made me more intrigued but I think overall I just felt like it was okay. I wish it dived deeper into some of the events and themes. Definitely need to think more about it.
