Intense, grim depiction of the Cambodian genocide under the Khmer Rouge. There's just so much death and suffering. I think the thing that stuck out most to me was the statistic that a full 26% of the population died under the reign of terror.

A good book about a very hard topic. I've been to Cambodia & saw the largest of the killing fields that have been discovered. It's really hard to wrap your head around how the human species can be so capable of such atrocities.
