It's honestly ridiculous that I enjoyed this novel as much as I did.

I mean, come on, I don't even like battles all that much, and this novel IS a three day battle! Absolutely visceral, edge-of-your-seat grimdark action in here - I swear, I was there. But of course, it's the before, after, and in-between of these three days that "made" this book for me - the characters, the politics, the humor, the damn First of the Magi...

This may be the First Law novel I'm the least likely to re-read, but it was still such a great time!

Finished The Heroes and I enjoyed, the begining befire day 1 was a bit slow and it took some getting used to the chapter breaks in this versus the previous books, but by the end its up there. Favorite character from this one ended up being Curnden Craw and loved seeing more lore being established for previous events like Sipani. With how Bayaz was willing to the violate the laws of magic in the first trilogy, I'm wondering if he might be an eater himself after the scene at the grave. Overall definitely become one of my favorite fantasy worlds and can't wait to see the future implications from this book.

Now this is war. Best book battle scenes I’ve ever seen.

Well this book was a slog, just like a war but I feel quite satisfied after finishing it. I don't know why it took so long. It seemed every time I picked it up I got interrupted or had started too late in the evening to keep awake. But that's not to say the book put me to sleep. Far from it. Some of my favorite scenes in fantasy are in this book. The moment where Craw says his last goodbye to Beck is gold. And I very much like the way Mr. Abercrombie is weaving a lofty back story of Bayaz and the Dark ones high above the heads of these genre novels. Nice bits for us fans of the Dogman, Shivers, and Logen too. All in all an excellent read. Just don't expect to rush through it, i fyou're anything like me.
