This book is a really great read for other fantasy romance readers and a great sequel. Heart of Flames is fast paced  and has lots of action/adventure scenes. I enjoyed how as the reader, we get to learn a lot more about the characters and their inner thoughts, I also loved the romance. It didn’t seem forced or too quick, and I was thrilled to see how Veronyka & Tristan’s bond and interconnectedness united them even more. Also great continuation of Sev & Kade’s story. I was so excited to read more about them. I like how I got see more of Sparrow too. I can’t wait to read the next book and see what’s to come!

this was better than the first one! It’s a 4.5 rating for me. I enjoyed it immensely and I thought I could not hate Val anymore but that is very much not the case. I wish for her to endure extreme pain for what she has put Veronyka through. And Tristan’s and Nyka’s blossoming relationship was just so sweet

I'm glad that I was able to quickly ease back into the narrative after over a year between reading book one in the series. After the reveals in the first book, Preto includes an additional perspective in this book which I found quite intriguing. Preto made this point of view work whereas other authors struggle with making this type of character one that the reader can empathize with without completely changing that character. (I am avoiding details to also avoid spoilers.) Preto also balances the multiple points of view extremely well, so much so that I did not want more or less of any of the perspectives; she hit the goldilocks zone. I marvel at how much she fit into this book and wonder how she will wrap everything up in the conclusion.

This has been one of my most anticipated releases of 2020, and it did not disappoint! I was so excited to dive back in this awesome world filled with phoenixes, rebellion, romance, and adventure. The story moved from character to character, focusing on magic and the relationships between them. That said, the plot was packed with surprises, twists, betrayals, and drama.

It was so great to reunite with such beloved personalities. Veronkya remains a powerful main character, who is also vulnerable and has too big a heart. Tristan is still sweet and unfalteringly loyal. and I was glad that the relationship between him in Veronkya stayed healthy and encouraging. Sev remains one of my favourites and had an excellent arc. Val is terrifying in everything she does, and I both delighted and dreaded her moments on the page. There were so many other characters both new and old who added amazing moments and I hope to see more from many of them.

The lore and world building continued to ensnare me, and make the world seem even larger than before. The action was intense and led to a heart-pounding, emotional ending. I am already missing these characters, and there are still some unanswered questions that have me clamouring for the next book. I can't get enough of this series, its cast, or the world/lore, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new high fantasy!

Really strong second book in the series which added alot to the world building and the world. I liked the growing companionship between Veronyka and Tristan and the building into romance. Friends to lovers is an under appreciated trope.

Val's manipulation and descent continues in this book seeing her hitting rock bottom and seeing how extensive her mind powers are.

With the reveal at the end of the first book we explore a lot more of the history in this book of Val and Nyk and how they got here aswell as Pheronia and Vals history and the parralells between their relationships.
