I myself have not had a chance to read the original Legends series therefore I recognize my review of this graphic novel my not be holistic, accurate or fair as I’m missing a lot more context of the trilogy packed into the graphic novels! Truth be told, I did not enjoy this as much as I hoped. I know dystopian YA novels may just not be for me anymore but I found the novel a bit fast paced leading to a feeling of rushed character development and even more rushed main character romantic relationships that felt a bit warped, unhealthy, and underdeveloped. I also would have loved to see Day and June more as equals given how they each were able to get perfect scores. I feel like there was a lack of satisfactory explanation of the government and the ending, leading to a lower rating. I just felt as though overall the writing, relationships and characters were poorly developed and would not reccomend this. I will say I do love some of the technology, particularly the bomb that disabled all guns in a radius, the willingness to be realistically brutal and respect the work the artist put in, but overall did not enjoy.
Graphic: Violence, Classism, and Gun violence
Moderate: War, Death of parent, Child death, Death, and Blood
