It was okay, I was intrigued enough to finish it.
The back describes it as Gone Girl meets Room and it's pretty much exactly that but worse. Addictive to read tho. I read it because my roomate sat on the couch for the entire day in one spot with this book while periodically gasping and shouting NO!! I knew I had to read it because of their reaction so i began the moment they closed the covers. I inhaled it and stayed up too late, had audio book on in case i needed to do any other chores. Any kind of thriller like this will always disappoint in the grand reveal but i had fun in the journey. Why did everyone, including and especially the author, do Jonathan so dirty! in the end when *spoilers* Lena reveals they never went on trips and she just spun an imagination world for them, WHY WAS JONATHAN NOT ALLOWED TO "COME WITH"?????

This was a solid thriller and I enjoyed it, BUT - I have some questions about the ending. Am I supposed to be judgmental of Jasmine for initially hitting on the man who ended up ABDUCTING HER? The father narrator was also a little too unlikable for my taste, and I don’t totally understand where he landed.
Overall though, compelling as hell and difficult to put down!

Avevo questo thriller in libreria praticamente per caso e, quando ho visto che a breve sarebbe uscita una miniserie targata Netflix a lui dedicata, mi sono decisa a prenderlo in mano.
L’ho letteralmente divorato! Ho terminato la lettura nel giro di poche ore.
Lo stile di scrittura è molto scorrevole, i pov alternati a volte sono intricati ma io li adoro proprio per questo.
La tensione non si allenta mai, rimane presente con il lettore dall’inizio alla fine.
Si tratta di una storia che mi ha preso sin dalle prime pagine, ed era da un po’ che non mi capitava un thriller psicologico in questo modo.
Il confine tra realtà e follia è molto sottile e ci sono dei momenti in cui è difficile capire se si tratta di paranoia o verità.
Ho apprezzato tanto l’epilogo del libro, che da voce a un personaggio chiave della storia che, però, non era mai entrato veramente in scena, facendo anche chiarezza su alcuni punti. Avrei preferito che alcuni tra questi fossero stati risolti più approfonditamente durante la storia (motivo per cui non ho dato punteggio pieno), però accetterò il fatto che siano stati comunque menzionati e non buttati nel dimenticatoio.
Piccolo disclaimer: ci sono degli accenni a temi un po’ delicati (come autismo, disturbo post-traumatico da stress, depressione, stupr0) che, però, non sono stati particolarmente approfonditi.

This book was verynintense. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading it.
A very twisted book indeed. I found the writing very unique, and the POV was from 4 characters. Lena, Jasmine, Hannah and Lena's father Matthias. From paragraph to paragraph, you get different POVs. It took me a bit to get into this style of writing, but I loved this intense story.
