i liked this a LOT! i really loved the progression of the relationship. which sounds normal but it’s not! it’s hard to write a relationship arc that is engaging every step of the way, but this one was. i found both mcs super compelling, and loved both of their individual arcs. i especially liked michael’s with grief. it didn’t truly resolve, and i think that’s realistic, but it was just handled so well. at least in my opinion.

i have qualms though. the dialogue read pretty monologue like for many of the conversations. i also wish some of the characters were allowed to be shitty people. a lot of the conflict in the book was the mcs having complicated relationships with people, and everything always turned out to be miscommunication instead of someone just being an asshole. it’s much more interesting seeing a character truly come to terms with the fact that someone they care about is a fucking asshole!
