Brush of Wings by Karen Kingsbury is the third book in Angels Walking series. Orlon is sending Ember, Beck, Jag, and Aspyn (an Angel Walking team) on an important mission. They need to make sure that a little baby gets born and to keep four individuals alive and together. Mary Catherine Clark is leaving for Uganda to help out at a new orphanage. She has always wanted to do this. However, Mary Catherine has a heart condition that is now life threatening. Mary Catherine needs a new heart, but she is not letting that stop her nor is she telling anyone about it. Marcus Dillinger is a baseball player with the LA Dodgers who cares for Mary Catherine, but she keeps pushing him away. She feels that he should get a chance at love with someone who might not die. Sami Dawson is Marth Catherine’s best friend and roommate. Sami works at the Youth Center where Mary Catherine also volunteered (until she decided to go to Uganda). Sami keeps getting Mary Catherine to confide in her, but Mary Catherine is keeping mum. Sami is in love with Tyler Ames, a coach with the LA Dodgers (and a friend of Marcus). Can the angels work to keep these four people alive and the demons at bay? It is imperative that their mission be successful.

Brush of Wings is basically a long (sappy) romance novel with angels, scripture, and prayer thrown in. The novel contains quite a bit of scripture and prayer (basically every page someone is praying or asking people to pray). I found the book hard to get into (I actually never did get into the book) which takes away my enjoyment of the book. Mary Catherine is the main focus of the book, and I found her to be a martyr. I did not like her and found her extremely annoying. This is the third book in the series, but I believe the novel can be enjoyed without having read the first two books in the series (I actually did not know it was part of a series until I started reading the book). I give Brush of Wings 3 out of 5 stars. Readers who love Christian romance novels will probably enjoy Brush of Wings. I had tried one of Karen Kingsbury's books many years ago, but I was unable to finish it. I thought now that I was older, I would give her another chance. Ms. Kingsbury's novels are just not for me.

I received a complimentary copy of Brush of Wings from NetGalley in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.

Overall, I enjoyed the series. This third book was my least favorite. It seemed the most improbable, and had a lot of timeline inconsistencies.

I'm sure this is the first book that's caused me to cry during the wedding scenes. Crying multiple times to the point where I couldn't read because my eyes were clouded with tears and they were such happy tears, I don't remember having happy tears for a book in a long while. It's truly a blessing I got to share and enjoy the experience of reading this and it gave me so much to think about, with faith, future, family, and friends. And j loved that this wasn't a story with a foreseeable plot where you would know how it ended but just little intricate twists to develop the characters and you weren't sure which direction the tale would go. This is my second book on Christian Faith novels I believe, and I loved Kingsbury's first one I read, but --is this real? Is it just fiction or do these sort of miracles and this love, the strength of such love between such people actually exist? Kingsbury's quote, "sometimes when we look for the fingerprints of God at work in our stories, we're most likely to see Him. More likely to experience a deeper faith" and this tale has shown me just that. Thank you for this tale. This book will be memorable.

Well, that is the end of the angels walking series, I will be sorry to say goodbye to these wonderful and well written stories and characters. This was a beautiful well written and fantastic story, I was very emotional while reading, I found this story very up lifting powerful and beautiful. I cannot wait to see what Karen Kingsbury will bring us next. I have read quite a number of her books and there is not one book I have not enjoyed. Her writing is powerful and really tugs at your heartstrings. Since becoming a Christian I have also become more in love with this authers writing than I already was before. Her books always stay with me long after I have finished them and I still remember bits about each one I have read. I highly recommend this book plus all her other books. Although they are Kristian fiction you do not have to be religious to enjoyed them, when I first got into this authors writing I was not a Christian but the books still touched my heart in a big way and actually were a big factor in helping me to make the decision to become a Christian. I am not going to give anything away about the general story itself as it is so beautiful I will let you all read it for yourselves. Five out of five if I could give it a higher rating I would. Karen Kingsbury does it again!
