The first one in the Young Sherlock series that I've read, and I did enjoy it! It was quite different to what I was expecting, with a huge chunk of the book taking place on the ship, but I do enjoy a sort of structured track through and routine. I did think it left a lot of the action to the end, and I wish that it had given it more time than what felt like an afterthought.

I really enjoyed this one.

I wasn’t expecting it to be as intense as it was but oh my god it was great.

I almost yelled and threw the book though
when the letter from Mycroft came and it said that Virginia said yes and then ending it after that???
Andrew what the hell 😭

I have got to read the next one. How am I meant to recover otherwise.

I REALLY enjoyed this book! It was full of mystery and excitement! And it plays in Shanghai! I liked the scenery in this book and the plot and everything yeh. I don’t like the plot twist this time though

Poor Sherlock what a gut punch at the end! An easy and enjoyable read just like the rest

After reading a period piece, I was craving a light and fun read. I have been reading the Young Sherlock Holmes series since High School and, although it is a very enjoyable read, I am often distracted by other novels and what could have been a less than a year project has now spanned at least eight years with more books yet to read. Needless to say, this is not a reflection of Andy's Lane ability to humanize and capture the story of how Sherlock became the legend that he is since I find his novels to be compelling. I gave Snake Bite a four star rating since the adventurous tone of the novel, and Sherlock's continuation in developing the skills he is beloved for, were prominent in this installment.
Triggers I noticed while reading: several murders are described and a mild child abuse scene

I had fun reading this One .. it wasn't the most adventurous book of the series but the ending had me shocked and hooked at the same time ...
i can't have the next book until the next book cause the library who sell it is closed for now ..

I liked this book. The characters interactions were very fun to read and wholesome. But that is about the only good point. The mystery, the reason for why many people would buy this book, was not played out properly. It was introduced and solved much too quickly. I didn't keep reading this book because they mystery was keeping me on my toes, but simply because it was fun to read. And considering that this is a mystery book, a Sherlock Holmes book, no less, that is not a good thing. But never the less, this book is still a very good book, and even though the mystery, the main element of this book is underdone, you will still enjoy reading it. It's like a sitcom. You aren't there because there is a plot or a story you're interested in, but rather because you like the characters, and what other problems they're going to get tangled up in.
