DNF @ 30%.

I can usually forgive a lot when reading an omegaverse reverse harem (it scratches a very particular itch), but I couldn’t get into this. The angsty set up was really thin — like, so thin the characters got over it after a 2 minute conversation. And all the villain-y characters were a bit cartoon-ish. I am curious about where the story will go but not enough to keep reading right now — might pick this up again later if I can’t get past the curiosity.

I have been dying for this one since I finished the previous book. I love this series, but Knot All That Glitters has been my favorite so far. So, I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me. In the end, nothing really happened, and what did was way too quickly resolved. I really wanted more tension between Asher and Sloane. The synopsis was selling like it was going to be this vast conflict, but it ended up not being that big of a deal. It could’ve been a lot bigger issue, or at least lasted longer because it was only an issue for maybe 24 hours in the book. By the second day, Sloane came clean about why she left, and then, poof, it wasn’t a big deal at all! Then, the whole mess with the ‘bad guys’ took a back seat. I just really wanted it to be a lot more dramatic or even have a more significant focus on it, and don’t even get me started on freaking Ian! Ultimately, this one became more fluff/focused on the pack life than the suspense. But don’t get me wrong, I liked seeing more pack life; overall, it wasn’t a bad book. I just really wanted more from it.

It was okay. It felt very low stakes for the genre. I’m not sure I found the story all that compelling but let’s be honest that isn’t really what we’re reading omegaverse for.
