June book club read - I enjoyed reading this book, some people might not like how many characters there are to follow, and that can be a common gripe I myself have with books, but the way the stories intertwined and depicted this crossroads of cultures and life in the 1930s was so intriguing to me. Once things started tying into each other I was hooked to see where everything went, and you could tell who the important characters were through their development. I kind of loved the ending actually? The two dudes just sitting there with doc flopped the well? Iconic!

Only read it because it was on Barack Obama’s reading list. It’s beautifully written but very slow and for most of the book it’s really unclear where the story is going which made it quite unexciting to pick up for me
