While the book is listed as fiction, it is based on true characters and events. The author consulted the main characters throughout the writing and has done several very interesting interviews with them. Its an incredibly sad story of impossible loss and impossible hope. The two main characters are from different world, one Palestinian, one Israeli, who are brought together because each has lost a daughter, one to a bullet and one to a bomb. The fact that they are together in their grief and efforts to change the situation is a testament to human resiliance. The book is beautifully written. A heartbreakingly wonderful read.
