This really started off clunky. It didn’t flow.. didn’t fully make sense. About 50% through is where I started getting invested in the story.

The world building is definitely different. It was refreshing to read something that isn’t your cookie cutter normal fantasy stories. I see the gothic vibes everyone constantly mentions but I was hoping for more.

The ending I didn’t fully expect but I also didn’t not see it coming (if that makes sense). I was definitely invested enough to want to read book two.

There was not a single thing I did not love about this book. The magic system- awesome. The FMC- brunette. The romantic tension- palpable. The 500 year old grouchy man who lives inside the FMCs head- hilarious. I just finished but I am counting down the days until I reread.
