This book was amazing, and I found I kept thinking about the book and the characters even when I wasn't reading it.  This was one of those books that I want some else to read it, so we can talk about it.  It comes with warnings at the front, and these are required, but it is well worth the read.   It really provides a window, mirror, doorway experience reading this book, and even with the small amount of mild "sex" (It is all consensual, and mostly just references to it happening) content I think this should be all high school libraries.   I really really hope that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island kids that need to read this, and see themselves in a book get to read this book.   My biggest wondering is why this book is not getting more discussion in the online reviews and didn't make any standing orders.

I really don't know how to articulate exactly how brilliant this book is.

I'm not usually a fan of YA novels but youths and adults alike need to read this book. This was such a powerful and emotional read that takes you on a journey from the perspective of a very realistic and authentic teenage character, not only struggling with coming-of-age, teenager issues but also identity issues.

So many people have commented on this book becoming apart of the school curriculum and I couldn't agree more.

I don't just recommend this book, you need to read it. Full stop.

not sure how to rate! it reads younger than it should (in my opinion as an adult lmao but) which i found really jarring (and like? that's an easy editorial fix) BUT i got hooked around p100 and sped through the rest.
it does ultimately give some context to why it reads a little young, but on the flipside, you get to the very end and it undoes that and it really shouldn't have.
definitely still a really engaging and valuable addition to young peoples' reading, but would prob recommend it for people a little younger than the MC to avoid that voice disconnect.
