Well written, a very authentic and compassionate writer. Manages to write a book mostly centred around hetero sex and cis bodies but consistently acknowledges differences, validating queer sex and identities. Mostly focuses on how to communicate and orgasm but still a good read if you’ve got a good basis.

Where was this book when I was younger? I feel like this is a great book for people just beginning their sexual healing journey or as a companion piece to “Come As You Are”. I also really appreciate how much emphasis was placed on “closing the orgasm gap”, as well as the history section and the ending chapter for partners. Mintz’s demystification of vaginal sex and focus on the clit is needed knowledge that all sexually active people should know.
With that being said, this book definitely read as an introduction. Where “Come As You Are” was a comprehensive book on female sexuality, discussing everything from mindful thinking to the science behind pleasure to cultural expectations; this book just grazed the surface of those topics. However, this book did have detailed instructions which I think could be helpful for women who are either in experienced or embarrassed of self love.
Although I will admit…. possibly the real reason I didn’t love this book is due to the poor narration It sounded like a computer was narrating it! That coupled with the constant puns in all chapters became grating really fast.
