Interesting for the time in which it was written but that ending is terrible.

Huckleberry Finn is an amazing protagonist whose introspective thoughts too me by surprise. I didn’t expect this character to battle his morals and to grow as a character. His “writing” even evolved throughout the story. Jim was also a fantastic character. I am not sure if Mark Twain did this on purpose but Jim’s speech was inconsistent; no wonder Percival Everett saw more to this character. Whenever Jim and Huck had conversations Jim was always very perceptive.
I could not give this book a 5 star rating because of the last third of the book. The two characters they introduced were annoying and while I do like Tom Sawyer I felt like the ending could have come a lot sooner if not for him. I don’t know if contrived would be the right word to describe Tom’s “plan” because that’s just who he is as a character but I found myself skimming through it. Though, there were times I was amused with Tom’s gaslighting. I would probably have to purchase Tom’s book when I purchase Huck’s and Jim’s.

Einzigartige Erzählweise und trotz der heutzutage undenkbaren Wortwahl und Inhalte sehr interessant und erfrischend zu lesen. Sehr unterhaltsam.

What can I say?! Hated Tom Sawyer in this one... Huck was starting to get OK, but then along comes Tom and Huck reverts to where he was in the beginning of the book...
Jim was the best character!
