I have a bit of a bone to pick with this final novel in the Eisenhorn trilogy.
I've enjoyed the ride thus far. Gregor Eisenhorn is a great character. The action scenes are awesome. The world building is fantastic, and makes me want to continue reading in 40k fiction.
I've enjoyed this story greatly as a whole, but this third book was a slog. And that's beyond the fact there are some great set pieces that should keep the ball rolling (the train!??). But the story overall has come to overstay its welcome, and I think this trilogy would have been a much stronger thing if it'd been pared down to a duology. There would have been a much more packed in punch with it.
Don't get me wrong, I still really like the overall story. I'll keep reading 40k books. It just felt too drawn out....

I still can't get Eisenhorn over the 4 star hump. It's a decently satisfying culmination of all that came before, but there's not enough wrapping up for the ending to be truly satisfying. The final confrontations in these books always feel more like boss fights in a video game than a confrontation.
