The Woman in Black is an amazing horror story that I really enjoyed. The suspense was amazing and the tension was built up perfectly.

A huge disappointed but still better than some other books I've read in 2023. Could be better if I would have read it younger. It git me spooked out at some point, and would be great for a chilly autumn evening. But the writing could have been better. Now it was just boring and a bit annoying not mentioning it  took me out of reading flow.

The Woman in Black is perhaps the most tropey, classic ghost story - in the best way. Narrator Arthur Kipps begins the book as a skeptic of the supernatural. Once he visits Eel Marsh House, though, he must acknowledge that ghosts are real. Not only that, but he also realizes that ghosts aren't just a terrifying sight to see; ghosts can be powerful and malevolent forces, too.

The Woman In Black opens with Arthur's family telling ghost stories on Christmas Eve. I think that Arthur's narrative is the exact type of story one would hope to hear in that setting. Though the events of the story often seemed a wee bit predictable, I still felt invested in the way it all developed. Overall, The Woman In Black is a well-paced and spooky tale that I enjoyed reading!

The buildup was really suspenseful, but the story kind of felt flat at the climax.
The ending was improbable - the ghost had never followed someone to another town. Samuel had even stated it would be the one of the town’s children that would suffer.

**Minor spoiler PSA no dogs die safe to read

This was so good I was genuinely freaked out
The tension and anxiety builds so well, to such a tragic ending
