If you want a slow and cozy Beauty and the Beast retelling, one that makes you feel like you're curled up in an old library with a cup of soup, then this is the one. It's not fast-paced with dizzying twists or this great and epic romantic tension, so if that's what you want, perhaps a different version would be more fun. However, I felt like this book knew what it was and delivered. It was heavy on the backstory and development of Beauty's life well before she met the Beast, but again, I enjoyed that. We all know how the fairy tale goes- sometimes it's just fun to be along for the ride.

This was a really sweet retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Actually, it's fairly close to the original fairy tale, with a bit more of Beauty's backstory. I really liked the simple writing style. It really lent itself to the magical aspects of the story. Fun read!
