It’s a well-written and well-executed book, but I kind of hated the first third because of how stressed I was about Addie’s predicament. I loved the second third, but then eventually ended back at a stressy/hopeful/fearful state towards the last third. Thankfully, it ended better than I feared.

Henry Strauss must be protected at all costs.

“Books, she has found, are a way to live a thousand lives--or to find strength in a very long one.”

This book made me feel like my own soul was trapped, and I had made a deal with the devil. This is my first V.E. Schwab book, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. As much as I wanted to pick up this book, I equally did not want it to be over ever. I don't think I can adequately express all the emotions this book evoked in me. I will be looking for Addie in the constellations.

The invisible life of Addie LaRue

Before I start this is the best book I’ve ever read hands down. Schwab’s writing is poetry and has the best story telling I’ve ever read. Never in this book was there took much or to little detail this is a masterpiece. I loved the history, and the characters, and the plot this was everything! This is my first six star read since I started reading again last year and I’m almost 250 books in! Anyways, I will be reading everything she has ever written and the audiobook was narrated beautifully!

I’ve always had a thing with permanence whether that be the permanence of memories or the permanence of life or death. So this book in the beginning fucking terrified me because to be so totally forgotten minutes after a conversation like Addie is that is my worst nightmare! But once I truly wrapped my mind back around the fact that this could literally never happen to me I fell in love with this book. The tragedy of loss,of time passing, and of beginnings with no future. Addie has the most complex, heartbreaking, and inspiring stories I’ve ever read. The duality and sheer divide of Addie’s curse and Henry’s curse is truly astounding to me. To be forgotten or to be overlooked are both alike and so vastly different. And to see how that would affect someone’s life, mental state, and daily interactions was so captivating to me.

I loved seeing Addie’s past and I never dreaded those chapters because they truly never felt like a break in the story or something I needed to trudge through to get back to the plot which was such a relief for me. I’ve read many books with flashbacks and no one has ever been able to keep my attention like Schwab was able to. I digress,Addie’s character development is paced so fucking well through this book. To see her go from the girl from nowhere who’s life had been in closed to just Villon,to a woman scraping her way through France, then to seeing her travel the world and experience everything she could within and a little outside the boundaries of her curse was magical! Being inside Addie’s head was also fucking crazy, the way she could find beauty in every place she lived or visited and seeing how with time comes the understanding of the people around you and their actions and instead of holding it against them she nods her understanding and moves on.

But the icing the cake was Henry and Addie together and watching her navigate through a true relationship and seeing the knowing in his eyes when see wakes each morning next to him. Also seeing the toll of Henry’s curse through their relationship as well. I loved them together and I think with much more time Addie could have loved him fully. But unfortunately that doesn’t happen but they were so fucking wholesome and sweet!

I loved that we got some of Henry’s past and perspective as well. And I relate a lot to Henry in many ways I think many people can. To feel the lack of understanding and empathy from your family about mental health is devastating. Also the pressure of having to choice one thing to do for the rest of your days and simple not wanting or knowing what to do is something I struggle with daily. But seeing how he used Addie’s gift to him was beautiful and knowing he can breathe and just choose something or not for his career made me sob. But the chapters when I thought he would die broke me!

Now the darkness or Luc is one of the most entertaining, evil, and complex characters I’ve seen. In the beginning, obviously I fucking hated him! But as time went on I realized Addie needed him that constant that touch stone to hold her to the ground. But he also made it that way for her so he only got so many point for that. But I also think like Addie said he was just as lonely as her and that breed this obsession with her but I don’t think Luc loves her there is to much history to much that divides them for that to be true. But I do think he clung to her as much as she did. The deal with Henry and his actions to push them together caught me so off guard and made me so fucking angry and sad! Anyways, I hope Addie’s shatters his heart when he inevitably casts her off!!!
This was the first book I’ve ever tabbed and annotated since I started reading and good god there are so many tabs lol! I have no complaints about this book I will reread it again when I need a very good cry and a perfect story. ~⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
