I loved the “beginnings of books”, and the narration was very interesting in 2nd person POV but the story got a bit chaotic and confusing for me. Loved the premise though and it was a very enjoyable read.
The theme of desire for continuity is strong and stubborn throughout this novel. I devoured it completely in my unrecognized hunger for such cyclical humor. It has been quite a while since I have been so enthralled by a novel; this one was just so different from any other I had read. I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone, really. Go out and read it. Or stay inside and read it, for all I care. What matters is how comfortably positioned you are whilst reading Italo Calvino's "new" novel because you won't be getting up until you have finished it. So, go buy it. Now.

The action spirals far beyond the premise of what was begun with, but in a way that seems to track the progress of your own thoughts as you follow the book along. Trails of thoughts spiraling out of control, pages of detailed, unfinished stories condensed into single sentences. I enjoyed this.
At first I found this book very difficult to read and very confusing. But after getting used to the style of the writing, the change style, and fully understanding the layout I really got into this book and cannot put it down.
