A love story that spans lifetimes, what can be more romantic? Amon was so damn perfect that he wasn't even human *insert crying emoji*

I had to DNF at 71%.  I read the spoilers and judged that the amount of effort needed to get to them wasn't worth it. Still marking it as read and rating it because I read 550 pages so it was well earned. If I force myself further, it will send me into a reading slump and it isn't worth it.  0 stars for the FMC, 1 star for the MMC, 4 stars for the writing itself.

In case you were wondering, no, it never did explain why a pop sounded through the room when she lost her virginity.  It was just a questionable writing choice, I suppose.  So that's fun.

And a summary of my notes, to witness my descent into madness:

34.0% "i think i am finally getting to the good stuff now"
48.0% "Part of me says "just read the spoilers and move on" and another part says "your at the 50% mark, surely it will start to kick off now"."
49.0% "Ok reading this via text to speech while I do data entry, hoping to get through a good chunk and hope it starts to suck me in"
50.0% "I figured out what gives me the ick so far - the naivete of the FMC. her internal dialogue is rubbing me the wrong way. I assume this is intentional by the author but it is offputting nonetheless"
52.0% ""a loud pop erupts in the air" MA'AM WHAT, this better be explained later on because if I was reading this physically, the book would have found itself flying out my door and into the street"
63.0% "this pacing feels like when i learned to drive standard the first time - stall, burnout, stall, burnout"
71.0% "These main characters are absolutely grating on my nerves... and there's still 220 pages left."

Ahhhhh this was so good (so long but so good). I really enjoyed it, and it had an amazing plot. My only criticism is that although this is a nearly 800 page book, the ending was a little… rushed? Like the whole build up of the book was solved in like 2 chapters (considering that these chapters are like 40 minutes long but still)

“You're like the most potent poison that's infiltrated my blood, one that is as deadly as it is sweet for I can see in you both my beginning and my end. Gods, but you consume me, lovely lass.”

Nice overall concepts and okay spice but absolutely not a story that needed to be almost 800 pages long. Even with the different elements going on, things got repetitive and internal monologues and dialogue got boring after a while. I skimmed through a lot of the second half despite there being many revelations. The dynamics between the MMC and FMC are really good, but it's hard for me to recommend this since the writing style was tough for me and it's a long commitment. But I still say it's worth a shot to at least try.
