I thought there was no way that everything going on in this book would come together but it somehow did. I just didn’t like how she makes you think there’s all these characters and you read 300 pages about them to find out that there’s not… it’s like saying it was all a dream
I figured out what the twist was going to be pretty early on. Then there are the plot holes and how unrealistic the circumstances are. Eh, I wouldn’t recommend the book. It isn’t bad, it just didn’t captivate me the way a book in this genre should. I finished it to be sure I was right rather than because I couldn’t put it down.

I've been on a string of bad/mediocre mysteries, and this fell into a lot of the same tropes that I'm tired of. As soon as it hinted that Sadie and Camille were the same person I was like, I'm not about this. I'm really sick of mental illness being used as a plot device in crime stories, especially as motivation that drives them to kill.
The only thing that really redeemed this for me was the ending - I didn't know what was coming and I'm content with what happened. It was definitely important to me thatSadie had a happy ending and what happened was never overwhelmingly blamed on her mental illness , which was an important subversion. That was probably the main thing that kept this at two stars instead of one.

I FLEW through this book. Although I predicted one of the twists really early, it was still a great book and had some other twists I didn’t see coming.
Enjoyed this and didn’t expect the twists. The back and forth lost me a little otherwise I would have rated it higher.

This book is sooo long. So long. Why was it so long? I like the twists and turns but overall I guessed the villain early on.
I also dislike the word “bum” when referring to an unhoused person. That word was used a few times. Gross.
