I first read Paper Towns when I was 13 years old. I honestly hated the way the book ended then, but now I love the ending. I like that it doesn’t all work out the way Q intends because it feels very real and honest. Young adult novels often feel too finished at the end because everything ends up resolved. Life isn’t like that at all, so I appreciate Green’s honesty in his writing. In terms of characters, I used to love Margo, but during my reread I wasn’t as fond of her as I used to be. She came across a lot more self-centered and immature than when I read this at 13. Honestly, I think this makes me appreciate the book more. Her character feels a lot more real and complex because her faults are more apparent. I do have to mention that I absolutely cannot stand the “manic pixie dream girl” vibe. I’m so incredibly sick of that trope. I like the way Margo expresses herself, I just hate that Q interprets it as the whole “not like other girls” thing. I shared a lot of the same ideas as Margo when I first read this. I’ve never really been drawn to the white picket fence lifestyle, so it was validating to see a character that felt the same. It was relieving to see her escape the town that made her feel trapped. Overall, I did enjoy reading this and I’ll always have a soft spot for John Green books.

This book conveys a deep truth regarding how difficult it is to really know another person. "You can imagine another well - but never quite perfectly, you know?"

I enjoyed the journey, the trying to know, to see, to be seen. For a lot of people that's a thing we ultimately want. Just to come close enough to another person to be real.

I really wanted to love this, but I kind of hated Margo. I did love Quentin and his friends though, which made it much more enjoyable. I feel like I need to give it another read to appreciate John Green's nuances, because I kind of flew through it.

So since of recent I have adopted a new hobby: Reading Maps. Now not only is it a life skill, it also highlights how small we are and how big the world out there is.

This book cultivated my already existing love for maps.

John Green has always knows to hit the philosophical POV of things. Its one of many characteristics that makes his writing so.... Unique. This book, includes characters that almost anyone can relate to and moments in life that we have all passed through.

What Margo Roth Spiegelman says and how she thinks makes us and Quentin re-evaluate everything about life. Why we are here, what is our purpose and makes you realize to live in the moment and not for the future. Everything she does and what unfolds after sees; incredibly unlikely parings, rebellious behaviour from Quentin and his best friends Ben and Radar who are the poster-boys for "WELL-BEHAVED STUDENTS" and also A ROADTRIP which is so hilarious.
What makes this book even better is the hilarious quips, easy language, rather vivid descriptions of every moment, relatable thoughts of the characters and fast paced writing. And the PAPER TOWN aspect of the whole book puts forward two meanings; one with heavy literary depth and the other with a surface definition.

NGL, after I finished the book, the first thing I did was watch the movie. And it gave me the roadtrip that I wanted from the book but not an accurate ending.

As of now, PAPER TOWNS is my second favourite John Green book.

I finished this book in about 6 hours...I could not put it down! John Green is an amazing author. Anyone who is looking for something to read should go read this, because it is amazing. It doesn't matter if you are a guy or girl, you will love this book.

I’ve only read two John Green books, this and Looking for Alaska and they are both copy and pasted but a little different. I think his books work really well as tv shows and movies but as book they don’t hold up as well. I loved the side characters for this and the writing is great but I think everyone can agree that Margo sucks. The ended was terrible in my opinion. If you liked this book check out the movie cause it’s way better.

This is my all time favorite book. Its has so many metaphors and things that foreshadow to different things so when you are reading it you remember things from other parts of the book and it all comes together in the end. i am not even going to watch the movie because i feel like it will ruin how much i love this book because the book is always better than the movie.
