Real Murders

Charlaine Harris

3.47 AVERAGE

This book was only OK for me. Kind of slow paced. I had a hard time getting into it. A quick read, however.

Quick read- the characters were pretty flat and I'm not sure I would have finished it otherwise.

Of all of the cozy murder mysteries I've read so far, this felt as if it had the most realistic heroine. Aurora is likable, she's just your average woman, living her life, and while she's interested in true crime, it doesn't necessarily mean she wants to live in her own murder mystery. She had logical, rational responses to all of the incidents that came her way and didn't go out of her way to try and solve things on her own as most heroines in cozy mysteries do.

i wasn't impressed

Enjoyable light, easy reading.
So far, from the first book, I would say that these are not as immediately engaging as the Sookie Stackhouse series, or the great Harper Connelly books.
The next Aurora Teagarden book awaits....

I only picked up this book because I'm a fan of the Hallmark Channel movie series. After having read the book, I definitely prefer the movies. The book version of Aurora Teagarden is very unlikeable, and I'm glad they changed her personality for the movies. On the other hand, I wished that another channel had gotten the adaptation rights because I think the gritty nature of the crimes (and even the other characters) were the most interesting parts of this novel. But sadly it was not enough to save this book for me. I have no desire currently to continue with this series, but maybe once there's enough time for me to forget how much I hated Aurora, I might consider reading the next book in the series.

This book was silly. :) The characters were super shallow and there were a lot of them, so it was a little hard to keep track. The depth of emotion was as deep as the characters, people got whacked daily, and it wrapped up in less than a chapter. Still a little entertaining, though. Reminds me of the murder mysteries I used to love as a teenager.

wow didn't see that coming
dark mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No

My least favorite series by Harris. I was engrossed, if not impressed by the Sookie Stackhouse books. I really love the Lily Bard series. I'm not impressed with this boring librarian and her unbelievable plot lines.
