Nice cozy mystery. I have been watching the movies on Hallmark and I actually like the character of Aurora Teagarden better on the tv show, she's a bit naive and lacking in interpersonal relationship skills. The mystery had good flow and was interesting.

I am re-reading this series in order to review the ninth book which I got from netgalley.
I listened to this one as an audiobook and I am kinda feeling "meh" about this. This is definitely a cozy mystery with a librarian *cringe*. As a library school student it is difficult listening to her talk about the things she does at the library and has other people do research.... drove me crazy.
And seriously can she stop talking down about herself??? Kisses two guys within 24 hours and calls herself a "hussy" *groan* I swear it is killing me. Plus, she is so judgmental. Like, the kissing thing isn't getting to me, but the fact she is planning two dates on the same day. No my thing, but I could run with it for Aurora if she didn't keep acting like she was turning into a tramp-- and then getting jealous someone else was getting married.
The setting and atmosphere is nice though and I did like the mystery. So, I'll try the next book -- I'll read it this time, and see if I like it any more than the first.

NOT a cozy mystery. (That's not exactly the reason for my rating, but I wanted to say that up front for others' sake!)
This mystery had an interesting premise and was definitely well-researched.
However, I didn't really attach to any of the characters, including Roe, who I could never quite get a read on. And the conclusion kind of came out of nowhere.
[spoilers ahead!]
Let me explain: I don't want to penalize this book for not being cozy, but the problem is that it does seem like one (colorful cover, quaint setting, romance) until the last 5% of the book. Then, without any warning at all and really no necessity to the plot, there is child endangerment, violence, and hints at sexual roleplay together.
Normally I'm fine with reading un-cozy mysteries, but this one blindsided me. (Maybe it was because the book is from the 90s and genre lines were blurrier then?) And with that surprise on top of a love triangle and characters I wasn't totally in love with, I personally won't continue the series.

A delightful cozy mystery that is just a tiny bit more gruesome than others in the genre.
