I have read other books by this author and wanted to check out more of her work. I thought this was a good mystery and I enjoyed it. Roe is a great main character, very charming and endearing. The members of the Real Murders club are quite an eclectic bunch. A club that meets to discuss famous murders seems dark and the copycat murders that happen are just as chilling. Everyone in the group soon becomes suspects or they could be victims. There is a little love triangle that comes into play. I don't think it's necessary to the story, but good for Roe. As more copycat murders occurred and clues discovered, I wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen. I looked forward to reading more of the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries.
This is exactly the sort of book you want for vacation! So delightful. What a fun mystery! Just wonderful for a relaxing (but not boring) day!
The overall story was interesting, which is what kept me reading, but the writing is horrible. I get that the book was written in 1990, but the main character is supposed to be a southern lady in her late twenties, but everything she says, thinks, wears, does, etc...screams of a lady at least 20 years older. I rolled my eyes more times than I could count while reading, and I felt like quite the literary snob for all the thoughts I had while reading in regards to the technical aspects of the book. But if you push through that, and you just want a quick and interesting story to read, this is a good start to the series.
This is my first from Charlaine and now i want to read her others.
2008, Aurora Teagarden is a librarian who is interested in real murders that occurred in the past, she formed a club with some of the residents of Lawrenceton who are equally interested. They meet every month to discuss one of the cases in detail. On one of their meetings a fellow member gets brutally murdered and then a series of murders follow. Everyone suspects everyone while the killer is having his fun.
I enjoyed Aurora and her personality, it's the first book in the Teagarden Mystery series and I'm sure to continue reading them. A fun and fast read..

The kid part is stupid. No one would have allowed the kid to be there.
Ms Harris does appear to take delight in picking names for her characters which are not the norm. Aurora Teagarden, a librarian, bears markings of being a stuffy sort but I actually found her rather charming. The first book was very entertaining, if not a tad macabre but I look forward to reading the other books in the Teagarden series.
