Real Murders

Charlaine Harris

This was well written, and you could feel the echoes of Sookie in it, just in the fact it's written in the first person, which I hadn't realised I had missed from Charmaine Harris!

I've read 2 of the crossings books, and enjoyed those, though there was something missing for me, which was the first person narrative! I'm looking forward to reading all of this series!

Better than most cozies I’ve tried! I went in having watched all the hallmark movies- and was surprised at how much had been changed- I mean not that hallmark would include some of the darker aspects of this book.

This one had a big cast of characters and I had trouble keeping up with that(a problem I always have) and there were some issues I had with the MC being kind of judgy/rude about other female characters- as pretty much ALL cozies have.

Overall, though, this was a decent mystery that was quick and easy to read.

I thought I'd read this, because I caught one of the TV movies and thought I should like it, but didn't... so I thought surely the book would be better. In my opinion, it wasn't. I thought it was the actress, but Roe was just as irritating in print. There were elements I enjoyed, but not enough to continue the series.

Review - I loved Aurora, although didn't like her mother or Robin, though I don't know why. Some of the characters were pretty 2D like Melanie and Bankston, a bit unfair as they were the culprits. The differing police detectives were intriguing as well. Again I think that Charlaine Harris attempts to write a mystery and a romance, and it doesn't work. I do wish the novel had also spent a chapter on what happened after the killers were caught, actually focusing on the people directly affected and the victims.

Boring. I realized halfway through that I literally couldn't care less who the murderer was.
