I don't usually read cozies, but this one was lying around, so I thought I'd try it. A fairly preposterous plot, but pleasant characters.

Aurora 'Roe' Teagarden is librarian who belongs to a club that has a specialty: they study real murder cases, old ones. They are studying old murder cases until one of their own club member's body is discovered and their focus seems to end up on a possible club member as the murderer.

Bodies start to pile up and everyone believes they will be next. The club needs to get busy and solve these murders. The interesting thing the bodies that are piling up seem to have identical features. The group does get implicated when a member of there group ends up dead and each member of the group becomes a suspect.

It was a quick enjoyable read. A nice cozy mystery.

Fun, funny, and just enough suspense.

I have watched the Aurora movies, and they are kind of fun, so I thought I should try the books. The first book was okay, but I suspect my enjoyment of the movies made me feel warmer to the characters in the book.

I've been on a mystery kick lately and Aurora Teagarden did the trick. It's an amusing, beach book and I may pick up the next in the series next time I need a quick, entertaining read. I should admit that I've seen the Aurora Teagarden Hallmark movies and the books are a bit different (not too surprising, since almost everything is G-rated & perfect in the Hallmark world). Though I had seen the movie for this book, it didn't spoil the book for me because it is different enough (and I have a short memory and forgot who the murderer was).

It's hard not to enjoy Charlaine Harris' writing. It's light, fluffy, and simple enough to read quickly for something lighthearted. For a book about gruesome murders, that's what this book was - lighthearted and funny at times. It wasn't amazing, but it also wasn't awful. It was a fun read and a solid three but I don't think I'll be reading any more of the series.

My comments on the mental illness aspect of the book are in the spoiler.
