The whole scene on page 87 is ridiculous. Not sure why CH always writes her women main characters the way she does. Leave out the "plain Jane desperate for a man" cliché.
Definitely interested in seeing how this series grows!
So, I read this again. After watching the pilot for the new Aurora Teagarden series on Hallmark, I wanted to go back and reread the first and second book. Then I realized that I never did move on to the third book. So, now I'm reading the series. lol. Not mad at all, I do love this series. I think it's probably my favorite series of Charlaine's.
I listened to the audiobook version and it was just what I needed. I've already gone straight into the next one. The narrator was fine except for when she did Aurora's little brothers voice. She made him sound like he had a perpetual stuffed up nose. He wasn't in the book very long though so I could deal with it.
There isn't anything grand about this book, it's just a fun series to read or listen to.
I think the only that really is bothering me is that the person who did it in the end sort of came out of left field for me. I kept waiting for the author to explain why. I don't know if I missed it, but I just wasn't satisfied with that.
In the end though when you read these kind of books, it's more that you just enjoy the characters rather then the whole mystery part.

lighthearted
medium-paced
I didn't care for this at all. I love the Sookie books & the Lily Bard books, but I just was having a problem with this series.
Aurora Teagarden is one of my favorite new book characters. I just started reading this series for the first time and it's so exciting, fresh, and witty. I love the Hallmark movies even more, which stare Candace Bure. aurora is a quirky librarian with original lines, book smarts, a kind heart, and she loves to read. I couldn't ask for a better heroine!
The best book in the series. I thought the murders were creative and the characters engaging.
The best thing about this book was that it only took two hours to read...I'm assuming it was written to fulfill some sort contractual obligation, because it was the most half-assed thing I have ever read. Seriously. Totally unbelievable, half-hearted, anti-climactic, nonsensical. Will not be reading the other books in this series.
It is one of my personal goals to read all of Harris's books (I've read almost a dozen already) and I'm finally reading the Aurora Teagarden mystery series. It took me longer to read this one because this is one of her paranormal series, instead it is just a normal mystery series (which is not a genre I read a lot of).
It was a short mystery, only 202 pages, but the mystery (and the Murder club) was very interesting and it was a quick read for me. And I plan on reading the rest of the 7 books. I loved the main character Aurora, and the fact that is a librarian was awesome.
I recommend checking out this series if you enjoy mysteries and short reads, plus Harris is a great author.
