Flame and Starlight by Dana Isaly is a fantasy romance. This is the first book in The Esteria series.

This is Dana's second book that she has published and she did a great job. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am loving the relationship that is blooming between Asher and Alys.

The book ended on a cliffhanger which was no surprise since it's the first book in the series. I can't wait for Dana to announce the title for the next book that is set to release on March 4, 2022.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy romances.

It was ok
Defo a close to a copy ad they could get to A court of thornes and roses. The books felt very rushed like there could be alot more added to the book and feel like there is a lot missing from the plot. I do want to find out what happens after the ending but would be happy if someone just told me the answer instead of reading the next one.
I liked what i read but i wont re read it and not sure if ill bother with the next

It started out alright but as soon as any plot got introduced, this book turned so inconsistent and the plot was all over the place. The MC could not make up her mind about anything it seemed and things were tossed in randomly with no rhyme or reason. The characters were incredibly flat and one-dimentional, and it seemed like it was trying so hard to be ACOTAR but failing miserably. I love me a fae novel, but this was just... hard to slog through.

“If you left me, it would rip my heart out of my chest. It would be like taking the moon from the night sky. You belong to me just as I belong to you.”

It is so hard to rate.
I liked the writing style, the world building was ok and I enjoyed the character development. Tho a bit sudden and fast near the end.
BUT it's.. ACOTAR and that's just not okay.

I wouldn't hold the Fae courts against the author, that's based on folklore. But.. everything else? The wings? The intimate touching of the wings? The shadows? The mating? And so many other points.

But again. I enjoyed it, it was a quick easy read.

I hope the author realizes that they aren't making too many fans by copying one of the most popular books in this genre. And I hope they come out with a more original story? I totally would read it, again I liked the writing style. I disagree with some reviews says the writing was worse than fanfics written by children.

My rating is more realistically a 3.5 stars. It took me some time to get into this book, but once I hit about 35% I was hooked!

Plagiarism is wrong and illegal. It is litterally ACOTAR.
Quote from the first page : "she is High Fae (...). Also, she isn't High fae of the Night Court. (...) She's from Autumn."
The MC is the High Lord of the Night Court, if it is nit plagiarism, I don't know what it it

Well, I guess this is what I get for taking a rec from BookTok again. :( Like every other review, this book is ACOTAR but worse. Literally, it has all the same plot points and characters as ACOTAR (minus Tamlin), but everyone is one dimensional and stupid. Also, the spicy scenes are not exciting because there is no relationship development, they just are there one minute and then in love the next.

If you wanna get heated about a High Lord of the Night Court, just read ACOTAR again, or go find some fanfic. You will have a better time.

Don’t look at the title or the author and tell me this isn’t ACOTAR fanfiction… I’ll wait.
