This rating is 100% just a personal preference thing. I can see why people really like this and how the ideas Yuval Noah Harari presents in this (and presumably the full Sapiens text) would be very world-changing to a lot of people, and I absolutely feel like I gained knowledge from reading this text. I think I would have loved this is I had read jt when I was maybe 13/14/15, but at my current age, I probably would be better of reading the full text version, especially because of the narrative device of “explain in a why a child would understand” which feels a bit condescending to an adult reader. Also while each section was interesting, there wasn’t a clear overarching narrative (other than the birth of humankind) to tie one end of the book to their other, so this specific book isn’t wrapped up. Perhaps this is intentional, but it is not easy to see where this section of history wraps up (at least in this depiction of the history of humankind) but to me, it was also confusing about where this narrative is going to go next. Probably the full text version does not have these flaws (as I see them). Still I am not feeling particularly inclined to pick up the full text or the graphic sequel.
In terms of the graphics, the art is fine. This book tries very hard to be funny, which is another reason I think it would be good for young adults. I think there were a couple of faults in the translation, and sometimes the art style didn’t make the order of reading clear enough.

I haven't read the original novel because of its sheer volume but this one made for a highly informative and visually pleasant read. I am particularly struck by the fact that us sapiens have used fiction to cooperate, congregate and conquer. The more I think about it, the more absurd it feels! Look forward to reading the next book in the series! :-)
