This one was really interesting, but it also dragged a bit. The whole idea of this being a graphic version of a full novel though it really inventive, so I appreciate that aspect of it! Very informative, I learned a LOT, and it is a good alternative to a full-on novel, which would have probably been even harder for me to read and actually finish!

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

The pictures aren’t really doing much for me, and I think I’d rather read the original version. Slightly disappointed as I normally love nonfiction graphic novels.

The sheer amount of information in this is stunning, especially given how it's presented. I kind of checked out after a while, but the detail and research put into this was so evident and it's a great tool for explaining humankind to all ages.

I really enjoyed this read! The art is great and the content is fascinating. I really feel like I learned a lot from this book and I’m eager to read the sequel due this Autumn.

My only complaint is the pacing. The chapters are pretty lengthy, which made it tough to stay engaged and really absorb all the details being presented. Shorter chapters would have really helped with retention. Or maybe it’s just me…?

I finished this graphic novel two weeks ago and I’m still thinking about it. The description of how humans need “fictions” (religions, nations…) to form large communities in which to work together for a common purpose, with strangers, is perfectly described and makes so much sense. As a non-religious person I’ve always thought, “Obviously most humans need religion, because it’s existed in one form or another as long as humans have existed. I just don’t know why they need religion in such large numbers.” But, this is a very logical explanation that makes sense to me.
