I read this with my 9 year old. It's the graphic narrative version of Harari's book Sapiens. It's informative and presented in a way that I learned quite a bit and my son did too. I've always been fascinated by the existence of several human species before Sapiens dominated. This book talks about what set Sapiens apart. It was the amount of detail that I was looking for to get an overview of the story of human evolution.

I'm quite intimidated by the original Sapiens so I thought I'd try the graphic adaptation, but unfortunately I really didn't get on with it. I was interested in the content but I just never clicked with the way it was told. It uses the device of characters teaching other characters to get the information across which I didn't like. I know it was supposed to be funny but I just found the tone a bit confusing. I also didn't know who it was supposed to be aimed at, because some of it was very simplified as if for younger readers but other parts were still quite complicated. I still might pick up the original book at some point but it's not top of my list.
