I adored the characters and the atmospheric setting of this book. I also appreciated the positive portrayals of female friendships and non-toxic masculinity. Bonus points for queer side characters, although none of them are essential to the story. On the negative side, there were a lot of typos which tells me that the book needed better editing. The dialogue was also occasionally corny in my opinion, and I wanted to have a better understanding of the exposition (the events that took place before page one). Nonetheless, I really enjoyed A Cowboy to Remember and the sequel is waiting on my bookshelf.

Chef Evie Buchanan has what appears to be a charmed life but is soon met with an unfortunate, life altering event that pushes her towards a past she'd like to leave in the past. This story features a sexy as hell cowboy who knows he has swagger and a (mostly) confident chef who has to learn what's important in life when what she's known is gone.

I'm not usually a fan of an amnesia story line and had some how missed that aspect when I went to read this book. Even with that, I really enjoyed this book. Evie had just the right amount of confidence and apprehension considering what she's going through. I also really liked seeing the dynamics between her and the Pleasant family. There was a moment or two where I felt like Evie and Zack were moving fast in their relationship considering the whole amnesia thing but they worked it out.

If you like cowboy or food related romance this book is for you.

I'm a big Rebekah Weatherspoon fan and this did not disappoint. This has a similar tone to her two most recent books, Rafe and Xeni -- contemporary, smart, and fun. Similar to those books, at its heart, it is a story of good people finding their way to each other.

I am NOT a big fan of amnesia plots, but I decided to trust Weatherspoon and I'm glad I did--this was done excellently. We get a sense of who Evie is before the amnesia happens, but we are not attached enough to Evie to resent the amnesia. She is appropriately confused and agitated, and I think the medical / mental health parts were handled really well.

I loved how the issues of consent were dealt with, and how Weatherspoon wrote in friendship & sexiness & growth while still staying true to the reality of amnesia and medical difficulty. The romance was wonderful, with a mix of second-chance/friends-to-lovers/enemies-to-lovers.

This was a lovely book to spend an afternoon with. It made me smile, laugh, and swoon; it made me think, and it made the time pass. It's not a fluff read, but it's not angsty either. I'm looking forward to more Cowboys from California books!

Evie is at the top of her world- she’s a celebrity chef on tv (think of the Chew), has great friends and is the toast of the town. But after a fall at a party takes her memory, she’s reminded that she has no family left. Worried that her fall wasn’t the accident it appears to be, her manager contacts Evie’s emergency contact- the family of hot cowboys she grew up next door to. And the hot cowboys come running to protect her! Zach was her lifelong crush, who broke her heart and whom she hasn’t seen in 10 years. And now that her memory is gone, Zach is determined to win her back, hoping all isn’t loss when (and if) her memory returns. I loved the entire Pleasant family and how they come together to help Evie. Also, did I mention the hot cowboys? A great romantic read!

A COWBOY TO REMEMBER is a second chance love story with an amnesia plot line featuring a chef and a cowboy. Pick your favorite trope! It's also a kind of a slow burn, with both MCs being really cautious about the relationship.

The first chapter, before Evie loses her memory, sets you up for a high drama story with rival chefs and danger in every stairwell. I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the book was fairly low drama (minus that total loss of memory thing) and focused on loving and supportive relationships within a large family. Things get dramatic again in the last 20-25% of the book, but after we've had time to grow attached to the characters.

The rush of action toward the end of the book is definitely in contrast to the rest of the story. Is it a problem? Not for me.

I liked the characters in this story and will be happy to spend more time with this cast in future books.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for review.
