I absolutely loved this book. It was really heavy though - so if you usually like to know TW, I would definitely recommend looking those up. I had to put the book down for a while because of how dark it was.
The writing style did take some getting used to & I do feel like the book could’ve been a bit shorter, but it was SO satisfying to see how all the pieces fit together. This book was truly a work of art and I hope this author gets the recognition she deserves.

Me demoré 2 meses en terminar de leer este libro cuando lo normal habría sido 1 jaja. Honestamente no me arrepiento, porque siento que pude digerirlo muy bien. Y qué librazo!! De lo mejor que he leído en mi vida.
Esta es una historia tan particular y bien hecha que se siente como algo que no has leído antes. Para mi fue así. Sobre todo en un contexto tan latinoamericano. Me pareció fantástico y espeluznante. Yo no tengo mucho estómago para el horror corporal y la sangre, pero me lo aguanté porque no me podía despegar de Gaspar, Juan, Victoria, Pablo. Lo más bonito de todo es la argentinidad que se desprende de todo el relato. Soy chilena, pero con hartos lazos con nuestros vecinos. Lo peor de todo... No sé, personalmente me encantó todo. A veces el diálogo un poco difícil de seguir, puede ser. Pero me hizo prestar más atención. Lo que me viene a la mente habiéndolo terminado: one of a kind. Ojalá pudiera olvidarlo y volver a leerlo. Muy recomendado.

Puees, había leído muy buenas reseñas sobre este libro y tenía altas expectativas, quizá por eso al final fue menos de lo que esperaba.
Me encantó mucho la temática del libro, los temas que se incluían como la familia adinerada que tiene control sobre muchas cosas, que buscan la inmortalidad a través de ritos y sacrificios muy dark. La inclusión de los médiums y la brujería, la adoración a dioses oscuros. Todo eso estuvo bomba

I absolutely loved this book and was ready to give it five stars until I got to the ending. I don’t know why with a 588 page novel the ending was so rushed. But I found after the journey it was disappointing.

The descriptions of the climate and countryside in Argentina made me want to visit even though the story is quite grim. It's very genuinely "horrific" sometimes. On the whole I enjoyed the storytelling a lot.
It's a bit weird to advertise this so strongly as a novel when it definitely feels more like a collection of interconnected novellas and short stories. It even has a contents page with the titles of the sections. I liked the order they were presented in and would recommend reading them in order. The third story felt slow and boring near the beginning, which is worrying when you're in the first half of a 725 page book, but I really enjoyed it when things did start picking up. The final story also seemed to end very abruptly, although I quite liked the ending itself.
The character of Mercedes and some of her buddies did veer towards cartoonish in parts, which might ruin it for some people, but I didn't mind.

this was my first horror book and im not sure that i would seek out another. it was very gruesome at times and im not sure that I totally got the overall vision of it. however, it did have me wanting to find out what was happening was next and the writing was good, I kind of couldn't put it down even though I was disgusted by it.
