a bit late to review but this bloated corpse of a novel had me absolutely transfixed till the very end. Mariana Enríquez, like many of her fellow LatAm writers, has a gift for evoking so much grief and dread with her insane commitment to bringing imagined horrors into a chronology of real-world devastation.
This was so good and had so many different layers of horror to it: from the girl trapped in the mudslide, to the hand grabbing a boy in the dark, to the colonizing british cult who don't care who they destroy. All against a vivid background of history.

Nunca antes había leído a Enriquez y este libro me llegó como “el mejor libro del 2020”.
Es un libro de ficción, un poco de terror quizás, pero diferente a todo lo que había leído antes.
Está tan tan tan conectado a la realidad que te encuentras dudando incluso de esta.
Enríquez es capaz de engañar al lector del mismo modo que los personajes se engañan entre ellos. Estás segura de lo que ha pasado, porque lo has leído, pero... ¿y si lo has interpretado mal? ¿y si lo que creías saber en verdad no lo sabías?
Tardé un poco en adentrarme bien en la historia, pero todo acaba teniendo sentido. No sé si será el mejor libro del 2021 para mi, pero está claro que indiferente no me ha dejado.

Brutal. Este libro es una obra maestra del terror, muy pocos libros me han hecho sentir lo que sentí con este. Sin duda alguna Mariana Enríquez es una excelente escritora.
