For those looking for a small town horror read with fun characters and twists you don’t see coming this is definitely worth the read. You’ve never seen MLM pyramid schemes quite like this. This book feels campy, fun, and I found myself laughing at a lot of Harriet’s inner monologues.

That being said, I really wanted the concepts and the horror in this read to have been taken even further. This book mainly builds up our character relationships for awhile and our main character’s story and motivations which makes sense but I do wish we got some horrific elements throughout the story instead of all at the end. It would have made the dread sink in even more to see some of the more subtle horror going on in the town. That being said I would still definitely recommend this read.

This has a sapphic romance, a pyramid scheme with women who might actually be vampires, and a haunted cabin. Harriet is a high school teacher who feels like a mess, until she drinks the tea from a pyramid scheme called Serenitea. She becomes convinced that it will fix all her problems. When her friend Lucy goes missing after she also joins Serenitea, Harriet teams up with the gym teacher Harold and Kelsey, her friend/love interest, to take down Serenitea. Besides being a real page-turner, this book does an excellent job at showing how awful MLMs and pyramid schemes are. This is my first time reading a book by Stephanie Sanders-Jacob and it won't be my last.
