I read this as part of my book club. I wasn’t initially excited about this title. I had started it a few years before and couldn’t get into it; this time I had more success. I actually loved the book this time around. Lisbeth is definitely a kickass character. I wouldn’t say that she makes the best decisions, but she could loosely be considered a role model in the sense that she knows how to stand up for herself.
The novel is broken up by dates which I thought was unique. I loved how smart and savvy Lisbeth was, but Blomkvist wasn’t too shabby either. Though the ending of the novel did seem to drag on unnecessarily, it didn’t stop me from reading the rest of the series.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is an astonishingly accomplished crime novel, and one that has gripped me right from the start. The characters are brilliantly drawn and utterly believable, and the almost matter-of-fact way that a violent episode is just dropped into the text is quite shocking. I can't wait to read the next two books in the series.

This book was awsome, the only thing i have to complain about is the end. I wasnt such a fan of the way it ended. Story line is great though i enjoyed reading it!

I "read" this via audiobook during my daily commute. It served the exact purpose I needed it for - it kept me entertained in traffic during NPR's fundraising week, which is my usual form of rush hour distraction.

All in all, not a new favorite, but an enjoyable "read."

Slow start but once I got far enough into it, I was hooked. Time to read the rest of the trilogy!

A true page turner! With a winding story and complex characters, I was not only gripped by the main mystery of the plot but also by the relationships between everyone involved. With the backdrop of northern Sweden, there were also a lot of great references to people who know the area well. My only negative comment is that after the mystery was solved, I felt the other loose ends were not as interesting to tie up. Worth the hype.

Not the best book ever. Extremely slow moving, and hard to read. The only reason I struggled through (with a little cheating), was because we were reading for book club. Otherwise I wouldn't have finished it.
