This book took me a little bit to get through and is a bit of a slow burn for my taste but had everything I love- self discovery, growth, love, truth, history, mystery, ghosts, and so much more. This book is an important time piece that exhibits just how far women have come while unfortunately so much remains the same. There’s definitely some difficult topics ranging from self-harm, physical/mental abuse, inappropriate relationships and murder but it’s handled with great care and heavy research. The authors note at the end brings it all together beautifully. Highly recommended read.

This was so good. It had my heart literally racing with suspense. Even at the end, when it looked like Loretta was actually going to get her happy ending , I was waiting for the other shoe to drop bc the suspense was so good.
I did this on audio and I didn’t love the narrator, sadly. I do not like the breathy whispering type of reading. Nevertheless, I persisted.

Love the premise and progression of the story (even though I’ve seen it several times before). Kind of wish the ending had a bit more.
