“Anna means ‘favor,’ as in ‘God has favored me.’ I thought the Angel had favored me with you, and I would make sure you were always happy, always content.”

While I didn’t find Anna Lightwood particularly compelling, I appreciate her self-awareness and her commitment to being a woman before her time in terms of gender identity and sexuality. Her parents being so accepting of her was lovely to see as well. Unfortunately her concerns about clothing and fawning over crushes doesn’t resonate with my interests as a reader, irregardless of the above significance.

I LOVE ANNA LIGHTWOOD!!!!!!!!!! Is it just me or it felt like Isabelle Lightwood could be Ariadne and Anna Lightwood's love child? The beauty and toughness. I see so much resemblance in the family trait.

Also, the revelation about Tessa's real father!! OMG. WHO IS IT? Could it be Asmodeus???

And Cecily and Gabriel are such good parents, I'M BAWLING MY EYES OUT 😭😭😭

Sheesh if I wasn't so tired yesterday I totally would've finished the last 20 minutes or so of this book. But I have to say this kinda lacked some things for me. Idk what it was BUT I kinda felt like it was 'random' for me and I didn't connect. Anna Lightwood's story was interesting and then you have Brother Zachariah's small part of the story and I think looking back that did kind of in a way feel like it was the random thing.

I've been doing the audiobooks with these stories and the reader for this was the magnificent and talented Lara Pulver who played Irene Adler in BBC's Sherlock. I LOVED her voice for Anna Lightwood's POV and I think I just love her voice in general. She did save this story for me with the richness and easiness of her voice and it honestly felt like Irene Adler telling the story *laughing*

So I hate to give this 3 stars but the story for some parts just didn't click as much for me if I'm going to be honest here and I wish it did *crying internally* but I just couldn't get into this one. But I AM excited to see what's next for Anna Lightwood when Chain of Gold comes out! :)
