Took me awhile but it's still really good. On to book two. I wanna know what happening. Lol.

So I reckon I should review this book a little bit more.

Tomorrow when the war By John Mardsen.

What lead me to read this was the movie. I reckon if I didn't see the movie I wouldn't of picked up the book. Because I just thought it'l be a book that's not really my taste. *boy I was totes wrong*

This storyline is the most unique one I have read in a long time. Because I havn't read a book where teenagers come back home too world war three *literally*

The way the teenagers went about things were so realistic and with the utters most intelligence in this setting.

I liked how they appoarch the problems with thought and didn't stand around looking at their feet and complaining what going on like ever minute. they were living in the moment.

There are alot of characters to keep up with. Seven to be exact. but all these characters are so relatable and realistic. The all have their own quricky personailties and back story that your just want to keep on learning more about them. Especially Homer and Fi who I've found the funniest.

This book is written so well because John has made the book feel like it's in present time even though It's set in the early 90's and it just transport you into the book. I love it.

This a must read book and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Jag läste den här boken på engelska ursprungligen och tyckte att den var lite rörig. Man visste inte riktigt var det utspelade sig eller när vilket gjorde att jag hela tiden var lite smått förvirrad när jag läste den här boken.

Re-reading this book brought back so many memories of when I was first beginning to fall in love with reading. It was one of the first YA books I ever read and I completely ate it up. All these years later and I still loved it. A compelling plot, a diverse (well, diverse for 1993) cast of characters and a relatable landscape. My only critique is the overuse of slang and "Australianisms" throughout the book. As an Australian, they were a bit cringy to read, but I can put this down to the age of the book. John Marsden's commentary on how we take our safety forgranted is definitely still a relevant concern, if not more so now in this turbulent political climate. I was sucked back into this world from the first page and I can't wait to finish the series.

Rereading this book as an adult, the concept still terrifies me. The storytelling from the teenage perspective lends itself to a YA audience but still enjoyable.

This was a reread for me this time around and I don't know what exactly it is about this story but it always pulls me in.

Ellie is an honest and relatable narrator who doesn't shy away from confronting the difficulties of war. There is no right or wrong and she's always question if what her and her friends are doing is the right thing or not.

Each of the characters is well developed in their own right, which is good to see because all too often in books side characters are underdeveloped or not given enough attention. Here I feel like I know all the characters well and there aren't any forgotten characters.

I also really like the way this is written, as if the character is looking back on events and writing them down herself. It makes it all feel more real.
