This was a really fun read. Rebecca Kenney is the master of balancing engaging plot with 🌶️ smut. This has been my favorite book of hers so far. The tension between the two MC’s is addicting, and the actual story was really interesting.

I found out about this book through Instagram and knew I absolutely had to read it. A genderbent Maleficent? Sign me up immediately. The story was well written too and I was pleasantly surprised over how much I enjoyed the story. It was predictable in some places and not in others.

Aura has been the personal guard of the crowned princess Dawn her entire life. Her job? To protect her until her 25th birthday and keep her safe from the Void King. Until Aura has to make a choice. Let the Void King have Dawn or take her place. And the choice is easy.

But nothing is as it seems and Aura is essentially slapped in the face with the antithesis of everything she has known to be real and right. And the Void Kings Curse isn’t what it seems to be.

I love it. I loved Aura and her feisty attitude and I loved the Void King being a secret submissive but also horrible vain about his appearance. I did find myself annoyed at the end because I couldn’t figure out where it was going when I thought I knew what was going to happen. So the end pacing is off and a little weird. But overall a solid story and the smut was great too.
