I'm conflicted by this series. There's a lot to like about the setting and the historical detail ... although some little things are wrong - ("A second drawer was stuffed just as full, but these were bills ... Courts were mentioned with increasing frequency the farther he dug down." ... nope, the most recent ones should have more mention of the courts, and those should be nearer the top. Yeah, it's a little thing, but little things distract.) I also would rather she had just one love interest rather than two, because they're both likable and I don't want either to get hurt. The sheer quantity of other characters without a cast list in the front of the book makes it tiresome figuring out who is who and what is going on sometimes. I'd probably also like the humor/snark dialed up just one notch. With that said, though, Rosalind is an interesting character, I like the other regulars in the book, the mystery compelled me to stay up late finishing this book, and I'm curious to see what happens to her next. Probably about 3.5 stars.

Again this felt very prosaic. Perfectly serviceable historical mystery. But I just don't care much about any of the characters. The mystery was reasonably well done; the historical accuracy is good. I just never really connected either in this book or the previous one.

While no year is provided, Wilde’s mystery is most likely set during the Regency era.
Rosalind Thorne provides discreet assistance to women who hire her.
Margaretta Seymore engages Rosalind when her husband threatens to divorce her.

Some of the Regency language is a bit off, but I enjoyed the mystery and the subplots. And the end was a surprise- which is always good in a mystery!

Solid mystery, but a little predictable. The writing is again much better then most books in this genre.
