The Alloy of Law

Brandon Sanderson

4.09 AVERAGE

Brandon Sanderson is one of the bright stars of science fiction writing in the recent years. he can create worlds the reader can immerse himself into. those worlds seem so vivid and real it is if you were there and were a part of that world.
the characters come alive and you feel like you know them but are still eager to see what they will do next.
The Alloy of Law is another fine example of Sanderson's work, but shows his mastery of world building. He takes the world he has already built in Mistborn and adds to it. Now I have read Mistborn so I know that world. I am not sure how others who have not read Mistborn will receive this, but most of the important parts of that world are explained here.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. But I still will give this only 4 stars. Why? I reserve 5 stars for those rare exceptional books like Way of Kings.
This book does live up to the standard Sanderson has set for himself.

This is the most fun I've had reading a book in.... a very long time. It is set in the same world as the Mistborn Trilogy, but a few hundred years later in time. Because of that advancement in time, it's less of a fantasy and more of a western with fantasy elements. Magic still works the same way as in Mistborn, but the world is more like the 19th century old west. Very fun... I think I liked it more than Mistborn, and I'm glad to see that Sanderson has plans to write at least one more novel in this setting before jumping ahead again in this universe to a time similar to our own present day.

A really fun adventure. I love the continuation of the original midtown with the western addition.
