I had this book as a youngster (It's still at my parents)
To me Nancy Drew was the height of sophistication and bravery.

Nancy Drew did scare me when I was young, and this is just the kind of book I would like to re read as an adult.

A slightly creepy but thrilling mystery in which Nancy's firm grip on reality prevents a family of women from being gaslighted by a predatory man trying to buy up old manors. This is one of the few stories in which Nancy is not kidnapped or tied up, by the way. It's an interesting digression from the usual formula.

I don't think I've ever read any Nancy Drew books before this one. It was more intense than I expected it to be for a YA book. I really enjoyed it.

I was a big fan of Nancy Drew as a kid. I loved revisiting this classic. The mystery is predictable for an adult and unrealistic in the way suspects tell Nancy everything she needs to know. I still love a strong female sleuth. Certainly a little outdated but still enjoyable.
