I struggled to live this book simply due to the depressing premise. I also wanted a little more of the situation outside of the compound although I recognize that was probably intentionally limited by the author. The writing was good, the plot and pacing were well done, ending was satisfactory… just not a story I was in the right head space for maybe? Or maybe just not for me.

the way so many times they were like "we don't wanna do this task" and the task in question would be like telling a 5 second story like you people can't do anythingggg

This is a simmer read. I don't know what I think of it but I know I will be thinking about it for a long time

I used to watch reality tv in the mid 2000s (survivor, the challenge, ANTM, real world) so I was nervous this would be too similar to newer more somewhat scripted shows and wouldn't enjoy it as much. there was some of that performance element as contestants are pushed into dislikable actions, but it was interesting to learn about Lily's justification for her seemingly frivolous actions. this is the first reality show book that I have found to combine what I love and hate about both survival and romance reality tv. the ending just left me wanting more.

5/5

Ahhh i loved this!!! This book kept me on the edge of my seat & I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I wasn’t reading! It was so full of drama & took a sinister turn which I loved. It was like life or death Big Brother lol. It also had some great social commentary. I absolutely whole-heartedly recommend this one if you like drama and you aren’t afraid of some violence at the end!
