Loved in 10th grade and got in a fight with my English teacher about the meaning of the ending. I really must read it again to see whether my perspective has changed.

"The novels of Dostoevsky are seething whirlpools, gyrating sandstorms, waterspouts which hiss and boil and suck us in. They are composed purely and wholly of the stuff of the soul. Against our wills we are drawn in, whirled round, blinded, suffocated, and at the same time filled with a giddy rapture. Out of Shakespeare there is no more excited reading." - Virginia Woolf

What to even say about this book, I am very surprised with how well i was able to understand it. I feel like it was very much self aware of the taboo topic and plot for a late 1800 Russian novle, then again i would not expect anything else from a Russian book. Needless to say this was my first time and i really did not know what i was going into with this one, and it was fun. But i kinda felt like when your in a maze and you feel like your getting some wear but really you are not getting anywhere near close to the finish line and you are in a constant loop of anguish.
In finishing this book it really only told me that a man can get away with anything. EVEN FROM MURDERING 2 WOMEN, and all the other women and loved ones in his life still clung to his side in support. Just chalk full of masoginy but also talked about how women should be able to hold their own rights so i don't know where he stands on the issue. I did really enjoy the spiralling of his mind after the fact but it was so slow with the constant reminder to the reader that he will turn himself in but literally odes not until the last 30 pages.Maybe I should just go kill a person and see if i could get away with it, OH WAIT Im just a women and not a sexist mopey man with a god complex.
A Understandable classic that i think should be continued to read, very nice audio book narration, though it was near impossible to keep track of all the character names, when it feels like each character has 3 each. Though it is very important to knowt that this book was written for the news papers and than later brought into book form, so some of the stuff in this book fells like such filler but at the same time Im like "I cant believe that people are just reading this in a news paper".
